 Item #TC0314 3 Sessions $14.00
 | Can’t the United States work toward health-care reform that is just, affordable, and sustainable? With health-insurance costs rising and the number of uninsured Americans growing, at what level(s) of government does reform need to take place? What should the role of Christians be in advocating change?
This three-session study examines the history of health-care delivery in the U.S. and the current challenges and efforts of health-care reform. It explains how religious values inform health-care reform and explores how we can take faith-based action. Throughout this study, participants are encouraged to educate themselves and participate in efforts to reform health care.
Session 1 focuses on the history of and obstacles to health-care reform. Participants are provided in-depth explanations about how we got to this point of desperately needing change in the health-care industry, stories that make this issue personal, and information on other countries’ health-care systems. Session 2 focuses on how our faith informs our views of health care. Participants will look at Bible passages and their denomination’s current involvement in health-care reform to work toward creating a personal, faith-based vision statement for our health-care future. And finally, session 3 focuses on using the information from the previous sessions to explore how each participant and their church community can be advocates for change in the health-care system.
