Upon the establishment of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in 1983, the General Assembly commissioned graphic artist Malcolm Grear to create a church seal that would honor the historic symbols of the Reformed tradition but also provide a fresh new symbol to represent the new PC(USA). Since its adoption in 1985, the seal has been widely accepted across the church and used in a variety of ways and on many different objects--from church bulletins and signs to needlework, ties, and jackets. In fact, it may be so familiar that we no longer really see the symbol for what it is. Can you find the following Christian symbols in the seal?
