Do you want to buy a Bible but are overwhelmed by the choices? Do you like your Bible but wonder if it's out-of-date given the seemingly infinite number of Bible translations and paraphrases available?

This updated two-session study "Which Bible Should I Buy?" educates participants about the various types of Bibles available and provides helpful suggestions for choosing a Bible. Session 1 discusses the various translations of the Bible and the difficulty in translating from one language to another. Session 2 presents an overview of the major editions of the Bible and the various formats available today. Rather than suggest one Bible version for everyone, the author shows the range of options so that each person can make their own informed choice.

Steven M. Sheeley is Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Religion at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia. He is the author or coauthor of three books, including The Bible in English Translation: An Essential Guide (with Robert N. Nash Jr.).
