The purpose of this retreat is to help teens claim healthy self-esteem as a gift of God's love and to examine the social pressures that threaten it. As beloved children of God, both parents and teens can joyfully claim their self-esteem. Society and other people present challenges that threaten this God-given sense of self. Knowing the characteristics of healthy self-esteem can help parents and teens understand the challenges. During this retreat participants will reflect on biblical passages about being God's beloved, become familiar with categories of self-esteem, and explore ways to support growth of self-esteem in teens.

Retreat Participants

While this retreat design was originally created for parents of teens, it would also work well with church educators who work with youth.
