Presbyterians Today, March/April 2022

A Church Changed by Covid

We are now entering the third year of living in a world turned upside down by the Covid pandemic. From the start, our churches learned to pivot by figuring out how to move their worship, meetings and gatherings online. As painful as it was, much of our church experience was completely transformed. Today, with one foot in the in-person world and the other still online, we have uneasily settled into this hybrid way of life. But the pressure has definitely remained on pastors and church leaders, who are now expected to continue offering worship and other types of ministry both in-person and virtually. Besides all their traditional church duties, congregational leaders need to be tech-savvy — and find the budget for added staff and equipment to deliver the experiences their members want. The March/April issue of Presbyterians Today explores this new world and offers advice for churches still trying to figure things out.
