다시 기본으로

2천년 교회의 역사 속에서 교회는 때때로 비틀거리기는 했어도 없어지지는 않았습니다. 주님이 다시 오실 때까지 교회는 하나님의 은혜와 공의를 이 세상에 드러내는 통로로 세워졌기 때문입니다. 그래서 교회를 이 땅에 세우신 성령은 지금도 교회를 새롭게 하십니다. 다시 가야할 방향을 보여주십니다. 한 시대 안에서 반드시 해야 할 것과 해서는 안되는 것을 분별하게 하십니다. 그리고 새 힘을 주십니다. 이번에 출간되는 사도행전이 우리 모두를 비추어 보는 거울이 되기를 소망합니다. 그리고 교회를 위해 여전히 일하고 계시는 성령을 발견하게 되기를 바랍니다. 여전히 진행중인 펜데믹은 교회에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것처럼 보입니다. 그러나, 펜데믹 속에서도 성령께서 주시는 새로운 방향을 발견하는 은혜가 있게 되기를 소망합니다.

Although the church has stumbled throughout its two thousand years of existence, it has never disappeared. This is because the church was built by the Spirit as a channel through which God’s grace and justice flow to the world till Christ’s return. Thus, the Spirit still works to this day to continually renew the church. It gives the church a new direction and helps it discern what it has to and should not do at certain times while empowering the church to do what it must do. I hope that the newly published Bible study textbook, The Acts, will be a mirror in which we all can evaluate ourselves and find the Holy Spirit who is still working for the church. In the face of the threat that the pandemic imposes on the church, I also hope The Acts can enable us all to find a new direction for the church given by the Holy Spirit.
