Women appear throughout the Bible, making their own particular mark on biblical history. They are the mothers and grandmothers of kings, followers of Jesus, and companions to apostles. These women provide us with spiritual models that can guide our lives today as we seek to be faithful disciples of Christ.
This three-day retreat for women is adapted from four Thoughtful Christian studies on biblical women: "Mary, Mother of Jesus," "Ruth," "Mary and Martha," and "Priscilla." We have much to learn from their stories.
Retreat participants will spend time reflecting on their connections with these biblical women and choose one of the women as a spiritual model for their lives as they grow in faith as contemporary Christian women.
This retreat offers a stimulating mix of community-building activities, worship, and ample opportunities for service and reflection. It also offers a number of specially designed recreational activities such as a customized bingo game as well as meaningful yet fun projects such as crafting prayer shawls, making bread for communion, walking a labyrinth or taking a nature walk, even massages!
Each activity is designed to encourage women to explore the lives and challenges of these extraordinary women in the Bible, to consider the ways in which they differ from each other, and to select a role model they hope to represent as women in today's faith community.
Retreat Participants
While this retreat design was originally created for women's groups, it would also work well with groups comprised of both male and female adults.
