The Bible is full of stories of men and women who felt called by God to accomplish special tasks. But that call is hardly limited to events in the Bible. In fact, throughout the history of the church, people have been called by God to serve. This retreat invites youth to explore their understanding of the concept of "call," to begin to discern their gifts for service, and to recognize God's call in their lives.
This youth retreat offers an excellent mix of enjoyable group activities and serious spiritual exploration. The study content is adapted from four Thoughtful Christian studies for youth on the subject of God's call. They are "Evan Almighty," "Here I Am, Lord: Now What?" "The Real Me," and "Who Am I? Understanding My Gifts and My Call."
It can be a daunting prospect for a young Christian to acknowledge a call to serve God--and an equally troubling prospect to feel the absence of one. This three-day retreat offers a safe and open environment to explore one's place in the larger Church.
Light-hearted get-acquainted tasks such making a group quilt, games designed to encourage group interaction, and a Friday night session built around a popular movie are balanced with ample opportunities for participants to explore the depth--and the details--of their particular call to serve God's purpose on earth.
