Resources for Christians and seekers
We all like to think that our Christian faith and practice in the church leads ■automatically to a spiritual life, but it's not always that simple. Knowing the Bible ■and following the rules may make us good congregants, but spirituality isn't ■something we do, it's something we feel.

The topic of spirituality is generating a lot of conversation in both religious and secular circles, yet many Christians are confused about its meaning and its connection to their lives. They want a chance to explore the topic and to ask questions about what spirituality is and what Christian spirituality looks like.

The goal of this retreat is to help participants reach a deeper understanding of the nature of spirituality and its connection to a vibrant faith. Participants will examine definitions of spirituality, learn about some different pathways for spiritual growth, and become familiar with some spiritual practices they can use in their own lives.

It's important to note that although there will be some opportunities to engage in spiritual practices, this retreat is not designed only for spiritual exercises; instead, participants will learn about them and consider how to integrate them into their lives.

The study content for the retreat is adapted from two Thoughtful Christian studies on spirituality: "Spirituality 101" (two-session study), to be used at the Friday evening and Saturday morning sessions, and "Introduction to Spiritual Disciplines" (one-session study), to be used Saturday afternoon.

Each study session includes an introduction to information about an aspect of spirituality followed by a large-group activity, small-group discussion, or time for individual journaling and reflection.

While this retreat design was originally created for adult groups, it would also work well with women's groups and groups comprised of adult and youth leaders.
