Are children spiritual? Of course they are! They are children of God and connect with God on many levels. Our task as parents or adults in their lives is to keep that connection alive.
In today's world, many children are quickly becoming as busy as adults, their calendars filled with activities and homework. Life has already gotten out of hand. Surely no one doubts that we need to help our children (and perhaps the adults in their lives) cry, "Stop!" For thoughtful Christians, what better place to start than to explore spirituality and children, allowing children to lead us, even as we seek to nurture them.
This study describes the spirituality of children and suggests spiritual practices appropriate to various ages. It is for adults who are involved in nurturing children's faith so that they may assume active roles in supporting the spiritual lives of children, those in their homes or in the congregation.
