Is the Lebanon mentioned in the Bible the same as the country of Lebanon we know today? Just how many empires have controlled Jerusalem over the centuries? Which countries have kings, and which are democratic?
As turmoil continues to rise in the Middle East, it has become a permanent fixture on the evening news and in our daily conversations. Yet, the history of this region of the world is long and complex and, unfortunately, relatively unknown by politicians and thoughtful Christians wanting to advocate for peace and justice.
This three-session study by scholar Elias Mallon provides a helpful glimpse of the landscape of the Middle East and the various political and religious forces influencing the region over the last two thousand years. The second and third sessions treat the last two hundred years more in detail.
Participants will find the study engaging and filled with information they may wish to investigate further.
