아모스

여호와를 만날 준비를 하라

어떤 이들은 과거 혹은 역사는 지나간 것이니 잊어 버리고 미래만 바라보며 나가자고 주장합니다. 언뜻 듣기에는 발전지향적인 말처럼 들리지만, 한번 더 생각해 보면 지혜로운 말이 아님을 알 수 있습니다. 역사를 모르면 발전하기보다 오히려 역사를 반복하기가 쉽습니다.

아모스서는 약 2800년 전에 북 이스라엘을 대상으로 쓰여진 책이지만, 그 책의 내용은 우리 교회들에게 그렇게 낯설지 않습니다. 아모스서의 많은 부분들이 현대 많은 교회들 안에서 똑같이 보여지고 있기 때문입니다. 즉, 우리 교회들이 북 이스라엘의 역사를 반복하고 있기 때문입니다. 하나님은 아모스서를 통해 현재 북 이스라엘의 역사를 반복하고 있는 많은 교회들을 향해 사랑으로 호소하고 계십니다. 많은 교회들이 마음 문을 열고 그분의 음성에 반응함으로 북 이스라엘의 전철을 밟는 대신에 영광스럽고 거룩한 주님의 신부로 준비되어지기를 소망합니다.

Amos

Be Prepared to Meet the LORD!

Some argue that we should move forward the future without knowing our past because it has passed away. It sounds very positive and encouraging, but it is not wise. History repeats itself because we do not learn from our history.

Amos was written around 2,800 years ago, but it looks very familiar to us because many things in the book repeat in our churches in our days. God, in His mercy and love, is pleading our churches to stop repeating what northern Israel did thousands of years ago. I pray that we open our heart to His plead, repent our sins, and take a step of preparing ourselves to become the glorious bride of Christ.
