Prayer is the term we use to describe our communication with God. It sounds so simple but many young people approach the practice of prayer with a little anxiety. "Am I doing this right?" "Am I praying for the right things?" "Does God hear me?"
This retreat is perfect for those who are seeking personally meaningful ways to pray. This retreat will help youth develop a greater level of comfort with prayer and expose them to a variety of prayer forms. Throughout the two-day retreat, participants will develop a working definition of prayer, become familiar with a variety of types of prayer, and explore prayer practices that are particularly meaningful to them as individuals.
Teens will be invited to examine both formal group prayers, as in worship, and more personal forms of individualized prayer that enable us to be still and be with God. Participants will be encouraged to define prayer and see what the Bible says about it. Questions and concerns will be discussed as the teens will actually construct an original prayer. They will also explore various types of prayers through prayer stations (set up prior to the session), with each station presenting a unique form of talking with God.
By clarifying with participants what prayer is and the variety of forms that prayer can take, they are encouraged to incorporate prayer as a part of their daily lives.

While this retreat design was originally created for youth groups, it would also work well with women's groups and adult groups comprised of both men and women..
