The goals of this retreat are to learn about the biblical concept of Sabbath and to explore a twenty-first-century concept of keeping Sabbath.
Bear in mind that this is not a traditional Bible study about Sabbath but an opportunity to think purposefully about a different way of living. This retreat is intended for adults who want to consider ways they can slow down their lives and choose an alternative to the time pressures of modern life. The retreat design will be helpful to church leadership hoping to enable a congregation to set some new priorities and for church professionals who want to set a different pace for their own lives and model healthier alternatives for their congregations.
Throughout the three-day retreat, participants will contemplate the anxieties of modern life, become familiar with several scriptural concepts of Sabbath, and consider new ways of Sabbath-keeping for their own lives.
