  • Recycling one ton of paper saves seventeen trees, two barrels of oil (enough to run the average car for 1,260 miles); 4,100 kilowatts of energy (enough power for the average home for six months); 3.2 cubic yards of landfill space; and sixty pounds of air pollution.

The raw materials of every single thing on earth are a gift from God. Glass? It's made from sand. Paper? It's made with wood pulp. Plastic water bottles? They contain a byproduct of petroleum, a naturally occurring substance. Ultimately, they are all a part of God's creation and should not be declared "worthless" by tossing them in a landfill.

While this study explores the values expressed by a decision to recycle, it also serves as a wonderfully practical guide to getting started in your home and in your community. Participants will learn what we can recycle and why we should be doing so.
