Many Christians have a notion that the Church in the Middle Ages struggled or barely survived until its revitalization in the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century. Yet reality shows a very different church, one that was remarkably resilient, dedicated to evangelism, and the most influential institution in Europe.
This study examines the advances, challenges, and resiliency of the Christian Church in the medieval times. Participants will study the medieval church through two perspectives: the partnership of church and state and the development of monasticism.
