The twelve novels in the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins have sold tens of millions of copies. The novels claim to have the answers to questions about the end of time that so many people would love to know.
Most people assume that the Left Behind novels simply follow the message of the book of Revelation. The popular press reinforces this impression by dubbing the authors "The New Prophets of Revelation." The novels, however, are actually based on a theological system developed in the early 1800s by John Nelson Darby, a British writer who wove verses from various parts of the Bible into a scenario of the coming end of the age.
In this two-session study, participants will spend the first session seeing just what the thinking is behind the Left Behind series. In the second session, the book of Revelation will be studied in a way that sheds a very different light on just what the Biblical writers meant to convey.
