Kenya is a beautiful land in eastern Africa with a long, rich history. Its various ethnic groups, religions, regions, and people make it a place many want to visit and know. However, it also has a painful past filled with war and colonization, with all that produces. One could say the current fledgling democracy in Kenya is experiencing its growing pains precisely because of so much past interference from outside powers.
This one-session study looks at the history of the country and how it got to where it is now. Violence after the 2007 elections is addressed but is not the main focus of this study.
