The country of Sudan in north and east Africa is the largest country in Africa and the tenth-largest country in the world geographically. Directly south of Egypt, it is home to ancient civilizations that survived and thrived along lush banks of the Nile River. Different peoples have inhabited Sudan, including ones mentioned in the Bible.
Unfortunately, the Sudanese have been caught in a battle for their lives. Estimates as to the loss of life vary, but they are all unthinkable. Many in the United States are now hearing more and more about the Lost Boys of Sudan and Darfur, thanks to documentaries and news reports.
This two-session study traces where the Bible mentions Sudan, gives a brief history of the country, and urges participants to learn more. The first session is an overview of the country, and the second session focuses on Darfur and recent events there.
