  • Eat, Pray, Love presents one woman's autobiographical account of her sincere desire to practice the faith she claims. While some people may disagree with the yogic tradition or the à la carte God that Liz sought, it is hard to critique the sincerity and integrity of her devotion. Karl Barth, a German theologian, called moments like these "secular parables." A secular parable is something happening in the world that calls the church and individuals to greater faithfulness-not away from the triune God, but closer.

Many people have found connection with Elizabeth Gilbert's confusion, frustration, and searching. In this study, participants will use the title themes to explore pleasure, devotion, and balance in the Christian life.
