A note from the editor: This study pack was originally designed for the New Members Class, but is cross-listed with the Women's Group Study and Men's Group Study classes.

If you have a group of new members, frequent visitors, or "old-timers" wishing to review the basic reasons for going to church and how to live a life of faith, this Editor's Pick study pack is here to help. The studies in this pack range from learning which Bible one should purchase to atonement theories. Participants will also explore why church attendance is low and how to appreciate the spiritual gifts of their fellow congregants. Below is an outline of the studies that is not only perfect for a group of new members, but all members of your church.

Why Go to Church? is a two-session study, first looking at the reasons many people now choose not to go to church. The second session looks at the various convincing reasons for remaining in church. It offers a chance for participants to say what they think and is a great chance to reaffirm why we go to church.

Which Bible Should I Buy? is a two-session study that helps participants understand the various types of Bibles and gives helpful suggestions so individuals can pick the right Bible for her or his own use.

Appreciating Spiritual Gifts is a one-session study that both challenges members to examine their own gifts as well as appreciate the gifts of others. This study reminds us that it takes all gifts to build the body of Christ we call church.

How Did Jesus' Death Save Us? Many Christians are confused about the meaning of the cross and how it saves us. This two-session study examines various atonement theories and encourages participants to appreciate the mystery, the "somehow," of our atonement through Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Practices for Families. In this two-session study, the first session recognizes the importance of family spirituality in the Bible and our busy lives. It contains practical suggestions for incorporating spiritual disciplines in families. The second session focuses on families made up of adults and ways they can incorporate spiritual practices to deepen relationships with one another and with God.
