This Advent study pack for youth draws on Advent themes from hymns and Scripture in order to help youth

• prepare the way for Christ,
• keep watch for what's to come,
• widen their hearts to embrace others in Christ, and
• choose God's will over their own.

One text from the Revised Common Lectionary (Year C) is used each week in addition to an Advent song. Please note that the adult Advent study this year, titled "People Look East," also focuses on Advent hymns. Three of them are used in this study as well.

Each session explores the theme of the day through activities. Opportunities to listen deeply to Scripture, a song, and one's own self-reflection are offered. Movement through these activities allows the participant to journey into the theme, learn, share and then make connections to their own lives and practice of faith.

In addition, each session includes two response activities to choose from: a song-writing prompt or an opportunity to create a space for Christmas worship. The song-writing prompts are designed to give creative voice to the prayers and reflections that emerge through the study. The worship acts are designed to integrate reflection and action in a sacred act.
