If patriotism requires absolute loyalty to one particular country, it can conflict with a religious vision that includes compassion for all humanity. Christians, therefore, must ask how the noble and valuable aspects of patriotism can be strengthened and the divisive aspects either downplayed or avoided.
This one-session study examines the various elements of patriotism, including its noble and potentially dangerous aspects. It then addresses the question, what is Christian patriotism? Perhaps there is a way to be both Christian and patriotic.
This study is part of the Religion and Politics Study Pack II. However, it may also be studied by itself.
