On October 4, 1990, Rev. Lisa Hamilton's husband, Scott, was diagnosed with a form of cancer that ended his life eight months later at the age of 32. Their son, Teddy, was 26 months old when his father died and his mother became a widow.

One year later, Lisa Hamilton left her job as Associate Director of Public Relations for the TV program "Mister Roger's Neighborhood," where she had worked for five years. She moved to Connecticut and entered Yale Divinity School, receiving her M.Div. in 1995. She served the Parish of Trinity Church on Wall Street in New York as a video producer, writing, directing, and producing the spiritual biography series "Pioneers of the Spirit." Recently Rev. Hamilton was ordained in the Episcopal church and began work as a parish priest at Christ Church in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Born in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1959, Rev. Hamilton has held a number of job positions ranging from that of a professor of freshman composition at both Indiana University and University of Pittsburgh, to that of a radio producer for both WQED-FM in Pittsburgh and Connecticut Public Radio. She does consulting work for the General Convention of the Episcopal Church USA, and has written articles that have appeared in Journal of Biblical Storytelling and The Christian Century.

From her own experience with grief, Rev. Hamilton has written For Those We Love But See No Longer, a prayer book designed for individual or corporate prayer, written especially for those who mourn.

Rev. Hamilton and her son, Teddy, whose interests include playing saxophone and baseball, live with numerous pets in Fairfield, Connecticut.
